Stepping Out Of Your Comfort Zone: An Important Step In Your Life

Spread the love

I have stepped out of my comfort zone several times in my life, sometimes by choice and other times life happened. We all have different goals and life plans, but it’s fair to say that we all want to be successful at whatever we do. I have also met many different types of people over the years. Many are movers and shakers, others are just plain lazy, and some are what I call excuse creators. There’s nothing wrong with being you, but please don’t blame others for not creating your success. Everyday you have the opportunity to make great things happen, so get out and do it!

Bloggy Conference

Eight years ago this month I was faced with the greatest challenge of my life- learning how to walk again. Two weeks before my 40th birthday I was forced to step out of my comfort zone- I had to dig in and get my legs moving again! Through one year of physical therapy and a lot of hard work, I learned how to walk again and continue to keep moving today. My right foot is still dropped, not a big deal! I met a lot of interesting people along the way and I also saw an opportunity to do something different with my life.

I began writing again and took up blogging. I then stepped out of my comfort zone and began sharing my story to several women’s groups across the state of Iowa. I was meeting new people, sharing my story, and got better with my presentation each time. I  refused to sit around and let my medical issues claim my life. I will admit, it would have been very easy to be an excuse creator. Social Media then came into my life and it’s fair to say that I saw an opportunity to be a mover and a shaker. I’m not one to sit back and watch life pass me by- not gonna happen! I’m gonna dig in, dig deep and make fun memories every single day!

If you find you are stuck in your comfort zone, I’ve got three tips for you:

  • Get out of bed and get dressed every single day
  • If you have made a commitment, follow through with it
  • Try something new

If you do the above, I can guarantee that you will have made three positive steps in your life. To keep things moving forward in your life, surround yourself with people that you admire and people that understand you! It’s up to you to make things happen in your life, nobody else can do it for you. My passion is sharing and inspiring others to be successful and I want every single one of you to succeed. Go out and make life happen!

Jeni~ Life is seriously too short to not be a mover and a shaker! I see so many people that choose, key word, choose to sit back!

If only everyone could assess their situations and move on and out of difficult situations like you have. I think some folks just don’t “get” it and it is easier to be an excuse maker. Your post is great advice for anyone who needs a little push . 🙂

I wish I had someone who pushed me a little harder back then and a post like this would have inspired me!

I appreciate this message that by starting with easy things and sticking with them, you’re providing a foundation for your happy life, and not just a fleeting commitment. Very nice job on this, and very encouraging. I think if people could know how the whole will look down the road because they’ve made steady, positive, CONSISTENT efforts, they’d sign up for trip outside of the comfort zone faster.

I agree… I think living in a society where we expect everything to happen overnight often gets in the way too. Thanks for chiming in!

You are absolutely right — you are the only one who can determine your own success. Life isn’t meant to be routine — it’s important to put yourself out there and push yourself to try new things.
