Social media is where many people spend a lot of time. Some of it is and good and some of it is bad. The lines begin to blur when the terms good and bad are defined. What is defined as good to one person may be bad to another. The best advice I can give you, is if you question posting it on social media, do not.
If there is one thing I have noticed, it’s the fact that one of the easiest ways to get fired in the world of Facebook today is for an employee to go on a rant about the owner of the business that gives them a paycheck each week. Really? How can a person expect to keep a job when they have nothing positive to say about their employer? And then to go on and rant about the other employees. Seriously-How could anyone possibly think that they would have a job tomorrow?
Twitter is another animal, which many of you know that I love. For whatever reason, people seem to think that nobody reads their Tweets, until they lose their job. Twitter is seriously one of the easiest and simplest ways to get your message across. It is not only in real time but it’s so easy for people to read on their smart phones. Again, think before you Tweet.
There’s a Facebook page called ” F—— Love Science” and for the life of me, I wish educators would stop sharing content onto their personal Facebook pages from this page. It appears that educators don’t realize that the name of the Facebook page they are sharing the information from shows up in their timeline. Think about it… If you are a parent, and your child’s teacher is sharing something from “F—— Love Science”- what’s your opinion of your child’s teacher?
I love social media and I know many of you do too. By taking the time to think before we share, I truly believe we can all improve on the lives we impact each day. You may not realize it, but if you are using social media in any way, shape or form, you are an online influencer. Best advice I can give you- pay attention and be smart when it comes to using social media.
